Squibs are ‘racing’ again
It might be informal but competition is still alive and well in the Squib fleet as Jason Phelps reports:
Great to be out again! There were five Squibs on the water including new owner Ross Corbett in What’s the Story. No thoughts of CoVid, much more important things to think about – north or south shore – unluckily for Ian Brand in Easy it was north shore.
Our first time racing needs to go with a few thanks for making it happen:
- Phil Aspinall, Malcolm Hutchings, Ian and Ross for launching Squibs Friday afternoon.
- Malcy for being race officer
- Phil in Guy Fawkes (helmed by son Eddie) for missing No. 13 to port on final leg, handing the lead to By the Lee
- RCYC staff for beers on the balcony
All in all, one of my top Saturdays this year: Racing – Beer – Curry – Sleep. And more Squibs launching this week. Perfect.
