Squib Nationals 2019- Torquay 25 Jun 2019
14 squibs have travelled down to Torquay for the 2019 Squib Nationals. Unfortunately the sunshine didn’t come with them, choosing to stay in Burnham, and there are now a number of damp squibs. At time of writing, we’ve had the practice race (won by our own Ian Gray and Ian Simons in Chequemate with Magic Roundabout (Jason Phelps and Carl Anderson) taking 5th place (talks currently in place as to whether they should be promoted to Gold Fleet upon their return!) Race 1 was slightly more wet and windy and with a few boats heading home suffering from seasickness and minor breakages those who stuck it out had a tough race getting their heads round the tricky wind shifts. Top boat from RCYC was Pani Munta (Mike Probert and James Bryer) who took 3rd place. Fleet are currently waiting instructions as to whether there will be racing today (light winds forecast).
