RCOD Prize-giving and Lunch 10 Feb 2020
An excellent turnout of some 30 plus sailors and supporters attended the RCOD carvery lunch prize giving on Sunday to receive a multiple set of awards ranging from most long awaited comeback (Barry Lewis) to the season points winner and the May Bank Holiday weekends (Justin Waples, Steve and Lizzie Rands). Barry has promised to have his boat repaired in 2018, then last year and now even 2020 looks a stretch, despite it being the fleet’s 85th anniversary year. Also picking up trophies were Sue Law, John Newcombe and Trudi Churchward and the CorpoSanto team of John Waples, Rosemary Archer and Mike Lewis. Martin Makey also picked up the best newcomer award!
This year the fleet introduced a new handicap trophy which went to Stuart Munro, Fi Bell, Andy Barr and David Shapiro. With four owners to share the helm, not surprisingly the boat was taken out nearly every weekend, which proves that sharing the running costs of these boats is the best way forward and the class is hoping that others will follow suit. Well done to everyone and we look forward to another keenly contested season this year alongside some fun social events.
