Otters on Tour 6 Sep 2008
Three 420s from the Otters took their passports and took the long trip across the Dengie to Stone Sailing Club – St Lawrence, for the annual Stone Week.
They packed up their tents from Otter Week and shifted them down the road.
The three boats:
Sarah Chowiencyzk and Tasmain Wichard,
Harriett Smith and Emma Tavinor,
Joe Tavinor and Joe Ball had a fantastic week racing – between each other and the other classes in the slow handicap fleet. They didn’t even embarrass themselves too much.
In the end Harriett and Emma, in the aptly named Two Tonnes Worth of Talent, came 3rd overall, the two Joes, who are new to the fleet, came 6th and Sarah and Taz came 8th.
As any sailing week it was not all about the racing; the Abba Tribute Night and Quiz Night were amongst the highlights of the social programme.
Unfortunately two ladies could not sail the last day of racing. Taz had “food poisoning” – she blamed being ill on her brother’s cooking.

We’re not so sure it wasn’t excessive partying!
Finally a mention must also go to Tye Wichard. He and parent Matt Smith borrowed a 505 and together attempted to sail it – the fact that they won the capsize trophy tells it all!
Despite that a good week was had by all, both on and off the water.
