Otters at the Cadet Nationals 28 Aug 2006
As the National Championships are also the final indicator for the Cadet national rankings, it’s an important event for deciding National Squad places and setting expectations for the coming year.
Event conditions were variable, but predominantly windy, with Otters appearing throughout the fleet. Top Otter was Tye Wichard crewed by Ben Thame with an excellent 6th place, their best results included a 2nd and 3rd place.

Amy Seabright and Katie Barr were 12th overall and 2nd under 15 (by just 1 point).
The event itself was won by Katrina and Christopher Brewer from Parkstone, with Hamish Stone and Aaron Woolf from Waldringfield in second place. The racing was close and at the end only
three points separated the two boats.
In the Regatta Fleet, Sarah Dallimore, crewed by Ed Smith, Harriet Ayre and James Turl (each on different days!) scored a string of first and second places to win the Regatta Fleet Trophy.

At the end of the Nationals scores across the three indicator events are calculated for ranking purposes.
The following Otters have qualified for National Squad (though the author understands that some boats will have changes to crews for the remainder of 2006):
UKNCCA Squad
Tye Wichard / Ben Thame
Oliver Herve / Charlie Barr
Charlie Matthews / William Arney
RYA Cadet National Junior Squad
Amy Seabright / Katie Barr
George Ayre / William Kennedy
Last year the Otters were represented at National Squad level by only one boat, so this year’s results are a significant improvement. Congratulations to all the participating in the Nationals, in particular those mentioned above.
