Otter Week 2022 23 Aug 2022
Between the Saturday 23rd and Thursday 28th of July Otter Week took place at the club. This was an incredible week for all involved and provided the otters with everything from exciting and competitive racing to monkey puzzle and magicians. The week provided perfect conditions for sailing, aside from one day where it was too windy, and the race committee, lead by Edwin Buckley, capitalised on this to create an outstanding race series for the otters. As well as regular racing, the otters also competed in a long distance race that took them all the way around Bridgemarsh Island. Alongside this fantastic racing the otters were entertained with afternoon and evening activities organised by the flag officers, lead by Phoebe Barr as the otter commodore, and the otter week committee. For many these activities were the highlight of the week with some of the favourites being raft building, a trip to monkey puzzle in Maldon, a taskmaster challenge night expertly led by Ant and Phill and the fancy dress, congratulations to the pond group for winning the overall prize. At the end of the week the otters and otter parents got dressed up for the prize giving and then danced the night away at the disco afterwards, thanks goes to Will who set up the music and was a brilliant DJ for the disco and throughout the week. All in all it was a fantastic week and a big thank you must go to all those who helped organise the week, the parents that helped keep it running so smoothly and especially to Phoebe and the rest of the flag officers for putting on such an outstanding week.
