Otter Sailing for River 1 12 Oct 2020
Otter sailing for the River 1 group- i.e first year on the river sailors, has been a little short for this season, so with the wind too much on Saturday morning for their Oppies, and more imminent, it wasn’t a question of just not sailing, all 5 jumped at the opportunity of sailing in something bigger. The RCOD proved the perfect boat, one reef in the main, and with no jib, it might a look a little odd to those on the shore, but on the water when you’re 8 years old, it means that the fore deck is another area to play on, and have a chat with a friend, and it looks like their own boats too with only one sail.
All 5 took it in turns to helm up to Cliff reach and back, and Violet showed all the boys how to helm up to a mooring by herself, and everyone enjoyed the rib ride back to the pontoon. Top marks all round, and importantly Hot chocolates for all afterwards.
As the saying goes ‘it’s all about the memories’.
