2014 Otter Easter Regatta 29 Apr 2014
There were over 30 boats racing, mostly Otters with some visitors, for the four-race Regatta. There were some great personal performances in the all-round blustery conditions with many completing all four races, despite a few dips in the cold water!
There was an extra hazard for the Otters with the Dragons and Squibs starting their races on the same stretch of water, all adding to the overall excitement.
Chocolate Eggs for everyone at the banquet style lunch and, of course, the customary extras on the water!
And the winners were…
- Kathryn Hutton-Penman in the 13 boat Laser fleet
- Kerensa Newcombe, 1st 4.7 Laser rig
- Scarlett Anderson in the 9 boat handicap fleet
- Ben Hutton-Penman in the 12 boat Optimist fleet
A good time was had by all!
Finally – The Big Otter Slim
Marc, Carl, Steve and Justin have lost over 24 kg between them – that’s the equivalent in weight of two dozen bottles of wine! We’re now on the home run with just under two weeks to go, so caution is being thrown to the wind trying to achieve our own targets – gym gear has been seen the light of day, although mostly been used under the cover of darkness!
Sponsors still most welcome to help raise monies for a replacement Otter Spotter.
