Cadet National Championships 10 Aug 2007

The Otters sent a large team of boats to the event and four of the team members will go on to compete in the World Championship at the same venue next week. The Otters hopes are high as during the Nationals Tye Witchard & Chris Thame, Amy Seabright & Hannah Muskett and George Ayre & Lizzie Halling all won races whilst Charlie Matthews, sailing with Chris Sycamore, managed to score two race firsts.

The event was won overall by Polish Sailors Michal and Agata Tomaszewski, Josh Pistol and Jack Wilson took second place overall but are now the UK National Champions. The Otters are really proud of their sailors. Charlie Matthews and Chris Sycamore finished third overall in the UK Nationals, William Kennedy and Sophie Dingwall sailed an exceptional consistant series and took 5th place as well as a host of trophies for under 15. Amy Seabright and Hannah Muskett took first all girl boat finishing 6th overall.

Overall in the UK Nationals the Otters took 6 top 14 places. The Nationals completed the National Squad selection series, so we expect several sailors to take up National Squad places for 2007/8.

Most impressively the Otters (and their parents) were as usual last to clear the dancefloor in the prize giving disco, begging the DJ for ‘just one more song, please’……finally “Chico Time” persuaded them to go home….
