Wendy Eagling – first Lady Commodore of the RCYC 6 Aug 2021

Club members were very sad to hear that Wendy has passed away; she was at home, with her sons close to her beloved garden. Wendy was a good friend to members, a great supporter of our Club, the one design fleets and the cruisers.
My memory is of her leading the Carol singing at the Otter Christmas party, another part of her commitment to the future of our club.
More recently Wendy made a valuable contribution to keeping our history and traditions alive with her preservation of the archive of papers and artefacts. She wrote many of the early newsletters, telling members about forthcoming events.
Wendy always enjoyed her Sunday lunches at the club – it was only a little over three weeks ago that she was able to have Sunday lunch at the Club as a family, which sadly turned out to be her last visit.
Our sincere condolences go to Mark and Tim. They are organising a small family funeral, and plan for a special event to celebrate Wendy’s life and achievements on Friday the 27th May 2022 at the RCYC.
Mark advises that Wendy’s garden has supplied them with all the flowers they need. In the future, they will setup Just Giving pages for Farleigh Hospice and Marie Curie – details to follow.
