The Harwich Race

The Harwich Race is open to all sailing craft in the RCYC Cruiser Fleet.
The start is to the east of the Rice & Cole Moorings and the course is via the Swin Spitway with the finish line to the south of Felixstowe Docks.
Provisional bookings have been made for Saturday overnight moorings in Shotley Point Marina and an evening meal in the Shipwreck restaurant.
Those intending to enter the race, require a mooring in Shotley and /or a meal at Shotley please let me know by email, by text or by ‘phone 07792 788401. Likewise those who prefer to cruise and join us for the meal on the Saturday evening.
The Sailing Instructions for the race are shown below.
There is of course the option to cruise the Suffolk rivers for all or part of the following week while others will make their way back to the Crouch on Sunday.

Start Line: East of RCYC, in the vicinity of Cross-rail Jetty, between Committee Boat towards North shore and Large Orange Mooring Buoy to the South
0855 Warning Signal Class Flag NP4 displayed and sound.
0856 Preparatory Signal Code Flag P displayed and sound.
0859 Preparatory Signal Code Flag P removed and long sound.
0900 Start Signal Class Flag NP4 removed and sound.
Mark 1: Swin Spitway SWM TO PORT
Competitors please note the time that you round Mark 1 in case the course has to be shortened to this point.
Finish Line: Between Sand Banks Buoy (Red) and Distance Mark (Large Orange Buoy marked ‘Corinthian Cruisers. Harwich Race Distance Mark.’) 200 yards due East of Sand Banks Buoy.
Competitors should be aware that the Distance Mark is off station.
Competitors please note the time that you cross the Finish Line and advise Steve Barham as soon as possible after the race.
