‘Try Sailing Day’ 2006 1 Jul 2006
On Saturday, 1st July, the Otters welcomed sixteen visiting youngsters, aged between 9 and 17, to our annual ‘Try Sailing Day’. The visitors were kitted out in buoyancy aids, allocated safety tallies and then paired up with an experienced Cadet sailor.
They helped with launching and were soon sailing, playing water football (in their boats!
) and follow my leader around the river under glorious sunny skies.
The children swapped in and out of dinghies from RIBs so all got a turn in a Cadet, whilst visiting adults watched their children enjoying the water
from the ‘comfort’ of the support RIBs.
Some of the ‘older’ visitors had a try crewing on 420’s, (although most turned down the offer of hanging out on the trapeze wires!

) whilst several of the younger guests took advantage of the
opportunity to have a go in an Optimist.
Everyone came off the water with smiles on their faces having enjoyed a morning of fun on the water. Thanks must be extended to all the Corinthian Otters who welcomed our visitors and willingly took them out on their boats.

After such a successful day we hope, and look forward, to seeing many of our young guests in the very near future.
