It was a treat to see friends looking so different, everyone I saw had made a huge effort with their dress and accessories, the room was decorated wonderfully and at points (thank- you alcohol!

) I genuinely felt that we’d been transported back to the 1920s. The menu was imaginative, I had never eaten pansy before (my opinion? it tastes like lettuce…) and those that braved the dance floor even learnt a few 1920s moves. To quote a 1920s saying that I’m sure you’ve all heard, the evening was ‘the bee’s knees’! Nichola Eagling
One could have thought it really was the roaring twenties…we dressed the part, sipped champagne cocktails on the balcony, dined at tables decorated with Tiffany lamps and danced the Charleston to the amazing Gatsby style full jazz band. “Thank you,” to Amanda and everyone who contributed to the truly ‘triumphant’ evening… Mandy Wade
Mr Gatsby is famous for his superb parties and Saturday was no exception – dinner was delicious, the guests looked the part, the drink flowed and the band inspired everyone to dance. Anne Heasley
With a backdrop of lightning and thunder, the Great Gatsby Ball lit up our fabulous club house in great style. Costumes were very much in theme with an imaginative range of flapper dresses and head adornments from the ladies whilst for most gentlemen evening attire retained its traditional look- lucky guys who don’t have to rummage through ancient aunts’ wardrobes for old clothes!
As usual for RCYC grand parties, Amanda and her sister, Carrena, – together with family and friends, invested a tremendous amount of time and effort in organising the Ball and we were all rewarded with a fabulous evening. The Band played well in theme and got everyone learning to Charleston (well maybe a couple of steps already forgotten) and then boogy.
The late night hotdogs was the final reminder of the American theme and very welcome to restore the energy batteries after all that dancing. Martin and Mary and all Table Six had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and a big thank you to all who were involved in its organisation. Martin Makey
