The 2026 RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show proved a memorable occasion for the RCYC in so many ways and it was great to see many of our members there of all ages, literally from 7 to 90 years.

On Saturday afternoon a Corinthian team were invited to the RYA’s National Award ceremony as we had been chosen as one of three finalists in two possible Award Categories.   This in itself was a major achievement.  This is the  first time that the Club had entered the Awards, a decision for which thanks go to RC Sailing Justin for having the confidence to take this step, truly believing that we as the Club  fully embodied the attributes required in the category  entered (not forgetting to thank Amanda for her fine tuning of the presentation!)
It was with much pride that we heard the RCYC announced as the winners in the Together on Water category ~ awarded for exceptional leadership in creating an inclusive ,welcoming boating community.

As Mary and Justin both commented afterwards  this Award is absolutely recognition for the Club as a whole, resulting not from one person or one week or one  season, it really is a result of several years of exceptionally hard work by so many members volunteering their time and skills or just their presence in the Club to create the platform.  The 707s have been a significant part of the initiatives but the work is from so many of you, the members and the staff  from the advertising, the office, the catering and the friendly front of house that provides all that is our Club for others to experience, enjoy and thus to join us, together on the water.

The opportunities to be on the stage kept on flowing for the Club, we narrowly missed the Active Award, but  having been awarded an RYA  Impact Award  in the autumn along with Emma Kimber and Florence Fisher, Justin took to the stage again having been selected by the RYA to receive a National RYA Individual Award 2026  in the  Guiding Light category ~ presented in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the sport, and it’s lasting impact on the boating community.
