Re-development – the Last Leg 4 Feb 2014
The months of January/February have always been a time for re-decoration and tidying up before the start of the new sailing season.
This year February is a window in a busy calendar for giving the Lounge Bar a new look, the final phase of an important make-over for the Clubhouse, both inside and out.
The expectation is that the lounge will look as exciting as the entrance hall; the ceiling will be a dramatic focal point about as different from the present ‘eighties’ tiles as can be imagined. A re-furbished bar, a touch-screen computer and newly mounted weather instruments together with the new curtains and comfortable seating of last summer will give a contemporary look whilst retaining the thirties feel of the original design.

Our calendar for ‘outside’ events is full for February but is manageable although the Club will be functioning with only the first floor in operation.

The exception is Sunday 16th February when it will be necessary to close the Club to Members that day – a decision not taken lightly but with the hope that Members will be sympathetic.
The renovations are scheduled to take about a month and, once completed, much work will be needed to restore the Club so that it can provide the standards of comfort and service that Members expect and so it is not certain whether the Club will open over the last weekend of February.
Members will be kept informed via the website and email if our opening hours are changed that weekend or at any other time. If you are travelling a distance, please check by phoning the office, 01621 782105, before setting out.
We certainly hope that the Clubhouse will be looking its absolute best for the Committee Dinner which takes place on Saturday 8th March but the tide will go in and out many times before then!
