RCOD Winter Dinner 7 Feb 2012
The Naval Club, on Friday February 3rd, was the venue for a midwinter dinner for the RCOD fleet & guests on what turned out to be one of the coldest evenings of the year. We were honoured by having the RCYC Admiral Robert Melville, Commodore Robert Coyle & RCOD Class President, John Heathfield, among the guests.
A hearty four course meal and much wine was followed by some ramblings from the Class Captain, noting that the RCOD fleet was provisionally into double figures on the water for the first time in a long while.
A few jokes by John Heathfield went down well with an ‘Ode to Fitting Out’ by Peter Willoughby, rounded off by choral variations of Edelweiss and Clementine, although some of the diners by now, were admittedly in better voice than others.
Chris Bell was the worthy winner of a bottle of Bollinger champagne in aid of the restoration fund raffle.
