RCOD AGM and Prizegiving 12 Feb 2025
The RCOD Fleet held its 2024 AGM at the Club on Saturday 8 February 2025. We enjoyed a very good attendance with most of the fleet represented and spent a lively hour discussing matters of importance including the design of individual flags for each RCOD!
This year is the 90th Anniversary of the founding of the class so there was much discussion on how best to celebrate our 90 years of sailing these wonderful old keel boats. We will end up with a good collection of memorabilia including tea towels and models but more importantly we hope to have all eleven viable yachts on the water and participating in the Club Regatta on 13-15 July.
This means restoring Coram which is in hand and Corinthia which is under discussion.
The Class is full of enthusiasm and 2025 will be an exciting year for all friends of the RCODs.
Following the AGM we were treated to a fine winter lunch of chicken pie and bread and butter pudding ( with custard! ). Our Commodore Mary ably assisted by Jackie Green ( our new trophy custodian) presented the newly polished fleet trophies to various worthy winners. New fleet member Clive ( Corpo Santo) was given a special presentation by Rear Commodore Sailing Justin Waples for proving that the boat’s buoyancy was sufficient to avoid a trip to the river bed and providing much entertainment whilst the fleet was waiting for a breeze during a lovely Burnham Week racing day.
Many thanks to the galley crew and club staff for giving the Class a fine lunch.
