Push The Boat Out 2019 19 May 2019
On Sunday the club threw it’s doors open to the public for the RYA ‘Push the Boat Out’ event. The weather could have been better – very light winds, blanket cloud and drizzle but it brightened up throughout the day. We welcomed 60 people to the club and 22 took up the offer of free temporary membership for three months, which is the best response we have ever had to the event. Thanks to all the club members and staff who helped to prepare for the event and gave up their Sunday to register people, kit them out, take them to the boats and sail and motor them up and down the river. We had two boats each from Dragons, Squibs and RCOD’s, a Shrimper and two powerboats from our cruiser section, an Otter Sport from the Otters and the club rib and launch. All acknowledged the success of the event and I think we were quite proud to show off our club its members, boats and facilities. We look forward to welcoming those new temporary members back into the club on numerous occasions over the next three months, to see what life here at RCYC is really like on non event days and really get them into the sailing and socials.
