Last Saturday was the official end of season for the Otters, it started off with three fleets competing in the Brass Monkey. When the wind had filled in two races were had outside the Club which made for great viewing. The racing was close, but well done to Eva, Emily and Isla and Henry who won their fleets. Thank you to Mark Flynn for his Race Officer duties and to Jules for doing the results.

The Tarka Group, our River 2’s, had not finished their adventures for the year so had one last trip up Lion Creek in the sunshine for another solid session of swimming and walking adventures and picking up treasures on the marshes, before packing their sailing gear away.

In the evening, the Otters and their families arrived for what was the biggest prize giving of the year, 128 people! As Otter Commodore for her last duty of the year, Amy Sheppard and her Flag Officers welcomed the RCYC Commodore and guests. Then her team did brilliantly in running the prize giving. At the end of the evening Judy then announced the new Flag Officers for 2026 being led by Joseph Bowd as the new Commodore, Eva Kennedy Vice Commodore, Emily Buckley and Sebastian Warren Rear Commodores and Sammy Buckley, the new Secretary.

The Otter President Judy Waples who has been in the position for 43 years made a special announcement that Justin Waples would be the new Otter Vice President of the Otters. With his continued enthusiasm and knowledge of all things Otters, he will be fabulous in this role. After the prize giving, everyone enjoyed dancing to the band Emberlyte, in which two Otters play. It was a great evening to finish off the season!
