New Champions head for Pro Am Regatta 6 Nov 2010
There was an extra inducement, (if any were needed!) to win the Endeavour Championship in 2010 in the shape of an invitation to attend the Pro Am Regatta at the Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands.

Within a couple of weeks of becoming the new Endeavour 2010 Champions, Stuart Bithel and Christian Birrell, their airfare provided by the National Merlin Rocket Association, were off for the trip of a lifetime!
“This unique event is hosted from the best resort in the coolest place on planet earth. The Pros are the best sailors in the world.
We would love to sail every day in that sort of environment, waking up with the sun bursting through the windows, enjoying a healthy breakfast, sailing eight races a day, then indulging in a spot of windsurfing before joining the guests at a cocktail party and then an amazing dinner,” was Stuart’s comment.
Christian added, “The regatta has a very Caribbean feel to it, just as you would expect.

The guests were all having the time of their lives and many of the people we spoke to had been going to the regatta for fifteen years or more.”
The racing took part in the Bitter End Yacht Club’s high quality fleet with the teams competing in preliminary elimination rounds in Hobie catamarans and Lasers. The fleet and match racing rounds sailed in IC 24s similar to the International J 24.
Last year’s champions, who will each be competing in their own right in the Championships for 2011, will no doubt hope to revisit the Bitter End Regatta but will have to face tough opposition to repeat the visit!
