The annual end of season pursuit race took place on Saturday afternoon, this time split into keelboat and dinghy fleets.
The dinghy course was a town course with a mix of Lasers and Blazes, and it was Charlie Matthews who made his way to the front of the fleet before extending his lead. Charlie has cornered the market in pursuit races this year, building on his success in the Silver Salver race during the 150th anniversary weekend.
The keelboats headed downriver before a series of legs up and down the Roach, with tide playing a key role in the tactics. As the minutes ticked down the fleet closed up, exactly how pursuit races should do, for a very close finish between Rob Campbell in his Dragon Quicksilver VI and Mickey Wright and Alex Porteous in Spoof (Squib) who just held them at bay to repeat his success of last year.
