Justin at the ff Worlds 4 Jul 2007
71 boats from 10 countries travelled to the Championships from as far afield as New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
The conditions were stunning, sailing in T-shirt and shorts for two weeks, with winds ranging from 5-18 knots, and social events on most evenings. Mornings were calm but the sea breeze clocked in about 13.
00 every day so the racing was always scheduled for a 14.
00 start ~ perfect.
I was very pleased to come ninth and that made us the fourth British boat, easily beating my previous Worlds place of 14th in 2003.
At one stage we were even lying 3rd before discards applied!
The Class is celebrating its Sixtieth Anniversary and various articles have appeared in Yachts and Yachting this year. If anyone would like a sail in a flying fifteen I will be down for the Farleigh Regatta this weekend.
