January Cruiser Lunch and Talk 14 Jan 2018
Sunday 14th January 2018
The Cruiser Lunch on Sunday 14th January took a different format to the usual. In place of a talk, Wendy Eagling displayed a selection of RCYC memorabilia from the early days of our club through to the early post-war period. Around 50 members gathered to view the memorabilia, and Wendy was able to answer questions and provide insight from her own knowledge and research. It also provided an opportunity for members to meet and chat in the margins. The hour passed quickly, and soon it was time for lunch.
We sat down to another splendid Carvery meal and chatted until the winter sun set over Wallasea Island, signaling time to go.
A big thanks to a Wendy for hosting such an entertaining and informative event, to Tony, Simon, James and all the RCYC staff for the excellent hospitality, and to all the members whose participation made the day such a success.
Our next Lunch is on Sunday February 18th at 12:00 noon. We are fortunate to have secured Carole Mulroney from the Leigh Society, who will tell “Tales from Old Leigh”. If you haven’t been to a Cruiser Lunch, you’ll be very welcome. They are very relaxed events and are open to all members. It’s a great way to keep in touch over Winter! We meet in the downstairs bar between 11:30 and 11:55 and sit down to eat at 13:00.
