Farleigh Hospice Regatta 19 Aug 2010
All involved in this year’s Farleigh Regatta enjoyed an excellent weekend. The weather was not as sunny as last year, but the threatened rain did not materialise. On Saturday morning the signs were not good as there was no wind, but just in time for the afternoon racing the wind arrived and built steadily through the weekend without becoming too strong.
Thirty five boats took part, representing all the one design day boat classes sailed on the river. They all enjoyed good racing with courses set by Bruce and his team at the club and Edwin and Kim from the committee boats on the water.
Thanks to all who helped with the race management including Derek Corless (not forgetting Dwilla) and his boat Tolerance, and Mark and Nichola, our mark layers, in the RIB.
Around the racing the club was busy and bubbling with people rushing to buy their raffle tickets. Thanks go to those who once more came up with great contributions to an impressive raffle display.
The dinner on Saturday evening saw good food and a very relaxed convivial atmosphere, with those able to attend benefiting from good music from the past by Men Behaving Sadly who kindly entertained us for free.
All in all a very good weekend at the club, which also raised £1800-00 for Farleigh.
