Christmas Countdown begins for Royal Corinthian 22 Nov 2015
Sunday morning started with a crisp chill in the air and it was clear to see Jack Frost had been busy. But, that helped set the scene outside, for the warm and cosy traditional festive fayre that the staff were preparing for inside. The elves were in, bright and early, to transform the club into a cosy respite from the cold chill, complete with mulled wine, mince pies and lebkucken!
Stall holders started arriving from 09:30 and by 11:00 they were all set and ready to sell their wares, over 20 in total ensured customers had plenty to choose from.
If you were brave enough to face the outside chill and step inside to the warmth of the club, you will have seen lots of familiar members faces behind the stalls. Justin Waples with Waples Wines tasting, Tom Harrison with his jewellery and belts, Suzanne Glenton with Blackjack merchandise, Andy & Gina with Yachting 'Stocking' Solutions and Sarah Buckley from The Old Salt Loft. If you missed them this year but want to order, just contact the office for their details. Other familar faces from around the town were present too, with items ranging from felted christmas wreaths, decorations, to chocolates, secret wooden boxes and wood turnings! The raffle raised over £110 in aid of The Brain Research Trust with several members being lucky and winning. There really was something for everyone and not just an event for the ladies. See the comments below from some of the men who attended…
"The Fayre was busy from start to finish…there was no let up all day of the Christmas music either….even when packing up the stand, Tom Harrison and I felt a more upbeat last song would have made that job quicker! A great buzz, plenty of scope for everyone on the stalls, and as far as the wine tasting went…..everyone went away just a tad happier (twelve wines to taste always seems to work!), just might have been the Rosé Port that added the extra smile for some."

"The club was full downstairs and when I was upstairs, it was very busy! I for one certainly managed to spend money at £/min ratio in excess of anything I have done this year elsewhere. Apparently I also won something in the raffle….. which is definitely a first!"
