Burnham Dragons’ Party Evening 25 Jul 2011
Once again the Burnham Dragon Fleet has set a very high hurdle for party making! Following a two race Crew race series on Saturday July 23rd, won by Matt Walker in Beauty and the Beast, the fleet and friends gathered at Kay and Tim Tavinors’ house and garden for a grand summer party.
The Tavs’ lovely home is made for partying. A made to measure terrace for BBQs, a garden decked out with marquees and Tim’s workshop converted into a bandstand, make for an ideal setting.

With tables made from big sheets of plywood generously lent by Petticrows, a variety of wood burning chimineas and garden braziers keeping the evening chill at bay, all helped to set the party scene.

So much for the hardware. The party kicked off in traditional style with Katie Cole mixing up jugs of Pimms and Dark and Stormies and volunteers ensuring nobody had an empty glass.
Whilst the bar got the socialising underway, Noddy, Chris and Mark showed off their culinary skills on the BBQs, cooking up sausages and kebabs.
Quietly in a corner, Woody was preparing his own produced hog roast. Plenty of spuds and salad ensured that we had a balanced meal, even more balanced out with bags of chocolate brownies and an ice cream machine.
Emma Tavinor invited a big crowd of her very talented musician friends to provide the sort of music for dancing not normally heard on the parade ground of the Royal Marines. Great jazz too!
What a wonderful evening! Many thanks to the Tavs, the young guys and girls from the band school of the Royal Marines and all who contributed to the evening and clearing up.
