Bruce Retires… 9 Dec 2012

The Annual General Meeting of the 9th December ended with a special presentation to Bruce Burnett, retiring after serving as the Club Race Officer since way back in the 1980s. After Bruce stopped sailing his Sonata Patricia, he took over the racebox and turned up faithfully every weekend from the beginning to the end of the sailing season.

Bruce was assisted by his crew, youngsters usually recruited from the Corinthian Otters. Dozens and dozens of them have received their training from Bruce over the years and probably found it a useful addition to their CV!

At a recent meeting of the General Committee it was unanimously agreed to make Bruce a Life Member and it was with great pleasure that Peter Marchant, RC Sailing, made the announcement to the applause and good wishes of every member present.

Peter then went on to present Bruce with a crystal decanter, crested RCYC glasses and a bottle of whisky. He also offered to help him drink it!
