707 Charter Report 4 Jun 2025
Sunday 1st June saw breezy, sunny conditions greet London Business School as they attended the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club to charter all 5 of our 707 fleet.
The event was organised by new RCYC member and LBS alumna Tanvi Sethi who also invited a guest crew from University of Oxford Said Business School.
Oxford had secured the help of club member (ROCKSTAR) Malcolm Hutchings to helm their boat.
After a hearty breakfast in the club, it was decided to head towards Cliff for some informal racing upriver. Malcolm organised gate starts putting the Oxford team at a slight disadvantage and I believe a boat from LBS won the first race before his extremely competitive crew encouraged him to 2 bullets in the next 2 races.
There was lively banter on the pontoon over the final result, with talk of a possible discard and so I believe in the end a draw was declared. All crews then headed into the bar to eat drink and celebrate a great day on the water. As seems evident by the smiles in the team photo, a good time was had by all, and we are certainly looking forward to their return.
The boats are now in great shape having undergone a complete refit since last year thanks to great support of Allen Brothers performance sailing hardware and Robline ropes , followed up over the winter by an internal revamp and replacement of standing rigging and depth sounders.
