With around 100 youth members ranging from beginner to expert the Corinthian Otters Club offers a warm welcome to children of all sailing abilities. Membership is open to all children aged from 7 to 18 and potential members are invited to come along to the club for a trial sailing session free of charge before making any commitment to join.
Complete beginners aged between 7 and 10 join our pond group to learn the basics of sailing in a safe and calm environment before heading out onto the river itself. Sessions take place on a Saturday morning at Ratsborough Farm Pond and are led by one of our experienced Trainers. Our beginners group is hugely popular so we operate a waiting list each year. Children of members of the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club receive priority entrance with any remaining places allocated to children of non members on a first come first served basis. We recommend that sailors in this group join us at the start of the season to get the most from the sessions on offer. For more information on our Beginners Group please visit our Pond Beginners Group page on the button below.
Intermediate and expert Sailors join us on the river with most children starting out in Optimist dinghies before moving onto boats such as Toppers, Teras, Fevas, Cadets and Lasers. Regular sailing sessions are held every Saturday morning throughout the season and are grouped into fleets with a designated Trainer for the season.
Annual Subscription Fees for 2020
Annual membership of the Otters includes all of our Saturday morning training sessions and, for those eligible, entrance to the RCYC Super Saturday race series. For beginners in our Pond group the cost includes the use of our club Optimist boats for the season. Children sailing on the river are expected to have their own boat unless crewing for another member in a double-handed dinghy. A limited number of club boats are available to hire for short periods.
If you would like further information or would like to arrange to visit us at the club please contact the Corinthian Otters at email@example.com who will be happy to help.
