As the founding fleet for the National Squib Class, Burnham, & in particular the RCYC, is home to one of the strongest squib fleets in the UK. You will regularly see the boat’s dark orange [AKA mace] coloured sails on the River Crouch with competitive fleet racing on both Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season. The local open events and Burnham Week regularly draw entries in excess of 25. There is also a fantastic travelling fleet with many “squibbers” taking part in the numerous events taking place around the Country.
A welcoming and social fleet, crews head to the bar after racing to discuss the action on the water and are always happy to give advice or offer a sail.
The fleet has a Squib available to hire – Woody (Squib 720) – for day sailing, racing or regattas. If you are interested, please contact the Club office directly.
