The Dragon Easter Series 2015 14 Apr 2015
Although the Friday before the start of the series saw a flurry of phone calls with the fleet debating whether or not to put boats in despite the forecast, six boats decided to launch although only three raced on Saturday and four on Sunday. The weekend proved to be a fair indication of things to come with blustery conditions, a few near-swimming incidents and two wins for the Wades and Noddy in GBR722 Avalanche.
The Easter weekend enjoyed better conditions and saw eight boats on the start line for each race including our East Coast visitors joining us for one race each. Race three on Good Friday was won by Rob Campbell in GBR788 Quicksilver VI with Luke Malissa and Jonathan Hill crewing, while Avalanche clocked up another win on Easter Monday, a race in which the fleet had the opportunity to check exactly where and how shallow Branklet spit is this year!
The final weekend produced more blustery conditions and a Saturday win for Rob Campbell and team in Quicksilver VI, but despite (or maybe because) of all the Easter eggs they’d won over the previous races, the final race went again to Avalanche (this time with Chris Brittain standing in for Mandy Wade), giving them a comfortable trophy win with a discard of a second.
