Dragon Easter Trophy 2008 26 Mar 2008
Easter being so early we had expected some reluctance by owners to get their boats afloat, therefore an entry of 17 including three visitors was looking very respectable. Unfortunately two boats, including one visitor, pulled out at the last moment, having possibly looked at the weather forecast.

Good Friday saw the entrants huddled in the Royal Corinthian against the wind and the cold.
There was not a word of dissent when the racing was abandoned for the day early in the afternoon.
On Easter Saturday I took Hand of Fortune for a spin to test the conditions; taking the advice of the Lifeboat crew, we stayed ashore for the second day.
On Easter Sunday the first race was sailed in a stiff southerly and a blizzard.

Quicksilver was the unchallenged winner and, amazingly, only two boats retired from the atrocious conditions! That set the pattern for the weekend; we eventually managed five races which allowed a discard but Campbell in Quicksilver was already a convincing winner.
