Keelboat, Dinghy & Cruiser Safety Event 10 Mar 2007
After the presentation attendees were then taken through the large variety of smoke and rocket flares with explanations of how to use them and in what circumstances. Discounts were on offer from Mailspeed for those who needed to bring their flare packs up to date.
The party then moved to the balcony from where we were given a very interesting demo by Jake, (Ian Baker), on how to launch and inflate liferafts by Premium Liferafts. Jake had brought two different size models and demonstrated how quickly and easily they could be made ready.
Then it was the turn of the RNLI. They completed the afternoon’s demonstrations with a talk about how to respond to rescue (let them take charge!) and a chance to look over both inshore lifeboats. Dick Rycroft, the Lifeboats Operations Manager and Clifton Warry, the Lifeboat Training Officer with ten members of the Burnham Team gave up their afternoon to talk to Corinthian members about the boats, rescue and equipment. Thank you!
A fund raiser for the RNLI completed the day, topped up by members attending the Fitting Out Supper that evening.
Well done to Tim and Sarah for putting the programme together and to all who contributed to the demonstrations and talks.
