Cruisers to Yokesfleet 13 Aug 2022
Often referred to as ‘Picnic with the seals’ this Cruiser Fleet event is about as layback as any event can be. To participate Cruiser Fleet boats just rock up in Yokesfleet Creek a couple of hours before high water, drop anchor near some of the other boats and enjoy some lunch.
During the Covid pandemic 2021 this was one of the few events that could be held, as social distancing was maintained simply by staying on board our boats, we acknowledged each other with a wave. Last year an amazing nineteen boats attended as most other socialising was still strictly limited and the programme seriously curtailed.
Yokesfleet Rally 1 was scheduled for 2nd July this year but high winds meant that only Tamarisk (James Napier and Corrina) and Mojo (Phil and Pauline Shannahan) ventured out in what turned out to be a very sunny but blustery afternoon.
This time in fine weather but a lot less wind occupants on Brite Spark went for a swim and Emily Jane rafted up alongside Silver Moon. Meanwhile the club rib visited the anchored craft for a chat. With boats anchored in a confined space we always set off before the tide turns to ebb and so a very pleasant lunchtime came to an end.
Thanks to Gina fabulous photo of a seal on the river bank.
