Cruiser Talk and Lunch 13 Jan 2019

Dave Nicholls, the Operations Manager of the Burnham Lifeboat Station gave an excellent talk to members and guests at the second of this winter’s Cruiser Fleet Lunches.
Dave explained the costs of providing the Lifeboat Service, the boats and the institution structure. We were shown examples of the dry suits, life-jackets and audio linked helmets worn as standard by lifeboat crew. The serious subject of saving lives was lightened by many amusing tales of actual events recalled by Dave from his thirty eight years of service to the institution, twenty five of which was operational.
There is no doubt the questions from the audience could have continued for some time but at one o’clock it was time to move to the restaurant tables for the Carvery Roast Lunch.
A collection was made after the meal enabling a significant donation to be made to the RNLI.
The third and final Cruiser Fleet Lunch of the close season will be on Sunday 24th February 2019, all members and their guests are welcome to attend.
