Cruiser End of Season Dinner 17 Oct 2015
The Fleet welcomed the new Captain, Chris Nolan, voted in after three years of Arthur – who was very happy with the Scotch he received as a thank you from the Fleet. The Vice Captain will be Steve Barham.
Among the 2015 Trophies presented were the Captain’s Prize, the Malista Salver, to Sue and John Hardy for their extensive cruises in the Med, from Gibraltar to Malta, on Jack. Quilla won the Stubbs Challenge Trophy for the best log by Rev. Jon and Jo Morgan telling the story of their trip to Boulogne and back.
A close vote took place for the Missing Link. It needed Brenda's decisive vote from the bar to settle it. The winner was Captain Nemo – aka Phil Shanahan – who, although he has sailed the Crouch since he was in nappies, had a surprising adventure lasting many hours on the Foulness sands. The runner up was Girl Friday – skipper Iain Crombie, who suddenly abandoned ship and command to give swimming lessons outside Shotley Lock.
