Cruiser Eagling Trophy 16 Sep 2020
CRUISER PROGRAMME IN FULL SWING

Start of Eagling Trophy 12 Sept 2020
On Saturday the Cruiser Fleet held the annual sailing race for the Eagling Trophy with the Motor Cruisers competing in a Predicted log Competition. Both fleets shared the same committee boat line and start time. The first buoy in the sailing race was the Crouch Cardinal that was off station so a substitute was found. The motor cruisers course took them up the Roach and not to be out-done found their WADE mark was also self-isolating off station.
The Predicted log was won by Phil and Pauline Shanahan in Mojo with Andy & Gina Wood-Hill 2nd in Boscalina. The sailing race split into two, those that heard the call on channel 72 to shorten course and those that did not. Winner of race 1 was Otra Vez, Andrew Prestwich followed by Lucy Lee, Ian and Janice Keam-George. Race 2 was won by a very fast Simon and Sarah Sanders in Voyager with Nightsong and Moondancer retiring. Between the start and finish of both events a quiz was distributed on the WhatsApp Group with answers to Katherine Barham before crossing the finish line. Unlike the boating events the quiz had no elements missing. Olly and Debie Moon achieved a winning score of 39 out of 40.
