Burnham Week cruiser report 6 Sep 2016
Burnham Week 2016 saw Cruisers members involved in many fleets, including IRC, Squibs, RCODs and Dinghy (fast handicap).
But it was Class 6 that had greatest Cruiser Fleet support. The Bank Holiday series set the tone for the week. Amanda Louise (Len Cole) had three 1st places winning the BYH White Sails Trophy. Amanda Louise also won the Tiger Chalice for the Bank Holiday Monday race. A great performance by Spangle (David Hill: 3rd overall) and Otra Vez (Andy Prestwich: 4th overall) secured the JCC Salver Inter-Club Team Trophy.
RCYC boats in the Class 6 Mid-Week series continued their success. Consistent performance by Spangle (Mid-week RU) won the Pat Gray Shield and, with a magnificent win on Friday also netted the Dangerous Moonlight Trophy. Amanda Louise and Otra Vez performed well.
Class 6 Trophy Day showed the strength of the RCYC entries, locking out 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Amanda Louise (1st place) won the Roach Trophy, Spangle came in 2nd with Otra Vez in 3rd place.
Away from the racing,some 40 members of the fleet met on Tuesday evening for an excellent Carvery dinner, and danced to Way 4ward. On Thursday evening, after the Squib race, Voyager (Simon and Sarah Sanders), Nemo (Phil Shanahan), Penelope Pitstop (Malcy and Jackie Hutchings) and Piglet (Bill and Kathy Jones) went to the Ferry Boat Inn at Fambridge for dinner.
