The Corinthian Cruiser Fleet invites all club members and their guests to attend a presentation by Colin Trowles, the first Cruiser Fleet event of 2022, taking place on Sunday 23 January.
Colin descibes his love of Lifeboats from an early age, his service as an active crew and more recently as a trainer of Lifeboat helms. His talk continues with the story of how he came to be the proud owner of the ‘Sir William Arnold’, its restoration and the outstanding heroics of her crew that made her one of the most famous craft in the history of the RNLI.
Noted as being one of the last Lifeboats to be built of timber, the first to incorporate some of the features that still appear in the latest designs but most of all for its service whilst based at Guernsey, Lifeboat 52-02 has been purchased and fully restored by Colin Trowles. She is now berthed in St Katharine Dock and functions as a Lifeboat Museum and Education Centre.
