The Dragon Fleet at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club welcomes Dragon sailors (old hands and first
timers) to come and sail in our waters. The Rivers Crouch and Roach form an outstanding sailing
ground providing good yet protected waters. The local racing marks and courses mean there is plenty
of scope for interesting beating, reaching, and spinnaker work.
You will be able to enjoy sailing with what is one of the longest-established Dragon fleets in the U.K,
and we race from Easter until the end of November.
The keen fleet racing has for many years been centred on our magnificent club, which has unrivalled
facilities for supporting yacht racing and regattas, as well as an excellent environment for the social
side of sailing. The organisation of the weekend keelboat racing alternates between the Royal
Corinthian and Royal Burnham Yacht Clubs. All these Dragon sailing facilities are within easy reach of
all those living in and around London.
Our fleet is well known for racing hard and playing hard, a fun ethos we seek to encourage. We are
always happy to help any aspiring Dragon crew or owner and can offer the opportunity to helm or
crew to anyone interested.
During the season we run an opening regatta during the Easter Weekend and of course we have the
fabulous Burnham Week Regatta, which always starts on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Every
other year we run the East Coast Dragon Championship over a weekend, too. In 2025 we are trialling
a new format of Key Weekends, during which we shall start an hour earlier than usual, allowing for
two races on the Saturday, with one on Sunday. Key Weekends will involve at least four Dragons
racing and usually have some social element attached to the weekend too.
Our fleet enjoys a reputation for travelling to regattas at home and abroad, our members being ever
helpful to other sailors, wherever we are. We look forward to welcoming you to the RCYC in Burnham
and hope you will enjoy sailing with us in the Dragon Fleet. We welcome you for a short period or the
whole season as crew, or bring your Dragon. Come and challenge us!
